Conspiracies against Tehran-Islamabad close ties doomed to failure: Iran envoy

Islamabad, IRNA -- The ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Pakistan, referring to the plots of common enemies of the two countries to create misunderstandings said the governments and people of Iran and Pakistan will never allow foreign agents to conspire against close relations and mutual cooperation.

Mohammad Ali Hosseini while interacting with local journalists in Islamabad said that Iran, together with Afghanistan's neighboring countries, examines the developments in the country and emphasizes the formation of an inclusive government.

Referring to the regional cooperation between Tehran and Islamabad, he added sustainable peace and stability in Afghanistan requires the participation of all groups.

He said that Iran and Pakistan are cooperating to promote peace in the region, particularly in Afghanistan, and close talks and consultations have been held between the two countries.

He added that the joint statement issued at the end of the meeting of the foreign ministers of Afghanistan’s neighbor shows the common position of all the countries regarding the recent developments Kabul.

Hosseini reminded the next meeting of foreign ministers is scheduled to be held in Tehran.

** Do not pay attention to the conspiracies of the Zionist regime

The Iranian ambassador to Pakistan said the international media headed by the Zionists is trying to create a rift between the countries of the region, especially the Muslim countries and the neighbors.

He added the misreporting of the statements of the spokesman of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the events in Panjshir is also an example of this issue as Iran and Pakistan are both strongly opposed to foreign intervention in Afghanistan.

Hosseini stressed the officials and people of Iran and Pakistan will never allow any foreign factor to hinder the deep and friendly relations between the two countries.

“The conspiracy of the opponents of Tehran-Islamabad relations is doomed to failure,” he said.

** A smooth path ahead for the development of economic cooperation

The ambassador continued that bilateral relations between Iran and Pakistan are expanding. For the past 70 years, there has been only one official border crossing (Mirjavah-Taftan) between the two countries. But in the last eight months, two new border crossings, Pishin-Mand and Rimdan-Gabd, have been opened between the two countries, which could play an important role in developing economic relations and the welfare and employment of border residents.

Hosseini noted the two countries have agreed to create joint border markets or each other.

Regarding the Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline, he said Iran has fulfilled its obligations under previous agreements and has built a pipeline near the Pakistani border.

** American policy to sabotage JCPOA continues

The envoy said Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) was concluded after 12 years of negotiations with the P5 + 1 countries and within that framework, commitments were made by all parties.

He added despite Iran's full adherence to all its commitments, which were repeatedly approved by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United States imposed oppressive sanctions on the Iranian people and withdrew from the agreement.

Hosseini said unfortunately, US President Joe Biden, contrary to his election promises to return to the JCPOA, has continued the policies of his predecessor Donald Trump and his administration.
